LibAnswers: Access & Circulation

How can I get a book that's already checked out to someone else?

Answer

You can still request it! The Library will recall the book.

When a recall is placed, the current holder of the checked-out item must return it to the Library Services Desk within 10 days of receiving the notice of recall. After the period of recall has passed, fines will accrue for a non-returned item at the rate of $1.00 per day.

To place a request follow the instructions below.

Log in to Educat+, search for the item, click on the catalog record...

...and then click "Pick Up"...

...click "Send Request" on the form...

...and that's it!

The same catalog record with the request box filled in with green and with a red frame around it and text on top of it saying "your request was successfully placed"

This will trigger a recall request – the current holder of the item will receive notice of recall.

You will be notified once the book has been returned and is ready for pick up from the Services Desk located on the first floor of the Library.
